Several fire departments responded to a fourth alarm fire at Windham Hill Inn in Townsend, Vt. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. No one was inside the inn when the fire started. The manager believes the fire started from a lightning strike during a severe thunderstorm that passed through the area. No official cause has been determined.By Kristopher Radder,

WEST TOWNSHEND â Firefighters from all over Windham County responded to a four-alarm fire at Windham Hill Inn Wednesday night.
At first, it appeared the building would be saved.
âBut it keeps reigniting,â Townshend Fire Chief Glen Beattie said at the scene at about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Skills Ontario names winner of 2020 volunteer award

The recipient of the Skills Ontario 2021 Glenn Beatty Award is Elizabeth (Liz) Stacey.
Stacey has been involved as a volunteer with Skills Ontario since 2008, and is the provincial tech chair for the IT Office and Coding competitions, and the national tech chair for IT Office.

Liz created the IT Office contest provincially in 2008, and she also became the national tech chair for this contest the same year. She represented Canada as national and provincial tech chair at World Skills in 2015 for IT Office.

During the initial stages of lockdown, Skills Ontario asked all tech chairs if they would offer their contests in a virtual format. Stacey ensured that Coding and IT Office were able to run virtually.
