ORLAND, Calif. – The Glenn County Fairgrounds announced the 2021 Glenn County Fair is a go for May 20 through the 23.
This year’s theme is a re-do of the canceled 2020 Glenn County Fair “Sweet Delights and Carnival Lights.”
Carnival lights and sweet treats are just some of the things coming back to Glenn County in May.
Fair planning by the Board of Directors, Staff and Volunteers is in full swing to bring the best annual event in Glenn County.
The Optum Serve site will provide more than 600 vaccines per week with the ability to expand based on vaccine allocation, health officials said. The site will include evening and Saturday hours, expanding the access to the vaccine. The addition of this vaccine site will increase the delivery of the vaccine to the residents of Glenn County.
Residents interested in an appointment at the Optum Serve Vaccine site can schedule through the California MyTurn system online. For those without internet access, call the State MyTurn scheduling hotline at (833) 422-4255.
Additional vaccine clinic dates will become available on this site next week. Health officials said they will be announcing more information on the clinics soon.
“We submit our allocation request to the state,” Kerri said, “And then the state sends us the vaccine that we have been approved to receive.”
Shasta County Public Health said the state decides how many doses will be sent to each county by looking at population size and who is eligible at the time.
Lorainne Johnson, who lives in Red Bluff, is going to have to wait until the end of the month before she can even get her first dose of the vaccine.
“I am sure it is causing it to take longer for us,” Johnson said. “Because we are a small town.”
