ATHENS, Texas More information has been released regarding the arrest of the City of Athens mayor for online solicitation of a minor.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), James Monte Montgomery s arrest was part of a multi-district operation that netted three additional arrests.
Montgomery was booked into the Gregg County Jail on Thursday for online solicitation of a minor/sexual conduct. His bond was set at $300,000.
DPS says Montgomery and the other suspects were arrested when they arrived at an undisclosed location after soliciting sex online with investigators posing as minors.

Travis Martin Cain, 33, was released Thursday from the Gregg County Jail on a $125,000 bond on a charge of impersonating a public servant.

LONGVIEW, Texas A Longview man was charged with impersonating a public servant after he dressed in tactical gear and posed as a CIA agent to get information from several Longview children’s museum board members in February, according to documents in the case.
Travis Martin Cain, 33, was released Thursday from the Gregg County Jail on a $125,000 bond on a charge of impersonating a public servant.

LONGVIEW, Texas A Longview sex offender who was identified as part of a joint international investigation has been sentenced to federal prison for child pornography violations in East Texas.
Charles Orange, 55, was convicted by a jury on Sep. 18, 2020, of possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 240 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Robert W. Schroeder III on March 4, 2021. Following Orange’s release from federal prison, he will be placed on a life term of supervised release.

LONGVIEW, Texas One of four civil lawsuits filed against a Longview doctor charged with sexually assaulting youth patients during counseling sessions has been amended to include five more children.
Matt Elza Hipke, 58, was charged in August with two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child younger than 14. He was released from the Gregg County Jail on bonds totaling $1 million.
