Local restaurant, food pantry, team up

CATSKILL — In its sixth year, the Creekside Restaurant’s adopt-a-family fundraiser continues to celebrate the gift of giving. Creekside is supporting 10 families and 33 children through the Matthew 25 Food Pantry this year. Patrons at Creekside and community members contribute to the annual fundraiser by purchasing a star and Creekside owner Sean Meagher matches the donations. This year, $2,400 was raised in donations, bringing the total to $4,800. Although Creekside had to forgo some holiday traditions due to the pandemic, such as its ugly sweater contest, the fundraiser was a success, Meagher said. “People were more generous than ever,” Meagher said. The fundraiser kicked off around Thanksgiving and the stars are on display at the restaurant through Christmas, Meagher said.
