The leader of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation wonât know until at least January whether the tribe will be in a position to contribute financially to the construction of the proposed south Tulsa/Jenks dam, he said Wednesday.
âItâs real hard for me to make a commitment right now due to our budget,â said Principal Chief David Hill.
Last yearâs flooding and this yearâs COVID-19 pandemic have left the tribe watching its budgets closely, he said.
âI am still waiting this year to approve the full 2021 budget. ⦠That is definitely going to tell us where weâre at,â Hill said. âI even had to ask some of the departments to do a deep decrease of 10% of their budget due to where we are at as far as our gaming revenue and everything else.â
