.- Nicène Kossentini (Tunisia, 1977) continues to explore the social and political dimension of culture. For Memorising, the artist prepared a series of works based on texts by Arab philosophers, thinkers and poets, such as Ibn Khaldun or Khalil Gibran. The calligraphic texts here disappear in an exercise of miniature writing that makes the reading complex and the meaning impossible: works in which famous quotes are intertwined, poems are superimposed, or history texts are dissolved in water. Nicène questions not only the liquid aspect of culture and tradition, but also the concepts of identity, civilization and history. How does a civilization survive and evolve when tangible knowledge becomes unintelligible?
Nancy Douglass Trowbridge, 80, died at her home on December 14th, 2020 of natural causes. Nancy was born on January 28, 1940, in Florence, AL.
She is survived by her son and daughter, Jay Douglass Trowbridge(Rachel), and Pamela Ann Trowbridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Alvin Douglass Jr. and Odie Mae Douglass.
Meticulous by nature, she never left the house without her matching lipstick. She was a classy, beautiful lady and loved everyone. While gardening was her biggest joy and passion, she also loved interior decorating and particularly loved the Christmas season when she would fill every room with the holiday spirit. She especially loved her three Yorkshire Terriers, and each one held a special place in her heart.

“When did Avatar Meher Baba enter your life?” “I met Meher Baba when I was two months old.” “Who in your family was the first one to meet Meher Baba? How did the journey with Baba begin with your family?” “My father, Kaikobad Rustom Nalavala, known as Keki Nalavala, first heard of Meher Baba in 1930 when he was in a school in Navsari. His school teacher gave him a copy of a book called The Sayings of Meher Baba.”

Khalil Gibran
He came home after a fortnight. It was almost Christmas. We were waiting. Waiting for him. His aura. His words. His laughter. Travel tales rehearsed and polished many times over to entertain us. His frame in the doorway warmed the cockles of our heart. His voice reverberated in the apartment. A deep baritone, that transformed to a deliciously soft tenor when he sang lullabies..
We opened his black leather briefcase to look for mementos. We could always decipher his secret code. He was a man without secrets. This time the presents were wrapped in gold-leafed pink tissue. With trembling fingers and without adult supervision, we undid the wrapping. What we saw, took our breath away.
