Samsung won’t be attending MWC 2021 in-person
The Mobile World Congress is one of the tech industry’s largest trade events. It’s held every year in Barcelona. The event was cancelled in 2020 as the world was quickly going into lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID19.
The organizers are committed to conducting the event this year in Barcelona. They didn’t hold it in the last week of February as it typically has been. The event was rescheduled to the summer in the hope that the situation would have improved by them. That’s not enough to convince Samsung to attend, though.

We are still trying to get used to the new normal, where we have to wear a mask every time we go out, where we have to practice social distancing, and most importantly, avoid crowds. The ongoing pandemic has changed the world in so many ways, giving us more digital presentations to compensate for the cancellation of in-person events. The first one to get canceled was MWC, back in February 2020 after several companies decided it was best to bail instead of risking possible contagions of their personnel and more people. Now, as we get closer to the next MWC 2021, Samsung and other companies have also decided that in-person attendance is not in their best interests.
Samsung Electronics will skip in-person exhibitions at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2021 in Barcelona due to novel coronavirus concerns, the company said on Tuesday, although it plans to join the event online. The world s largest smartphone vendor will not showcase its products and technologies offline at the mobile technologies trade fair, to be held between June 28 and July 1 in Barcelona, Spain. The health and safety of our employees, partners and customers is our number one priority, so we have made the decision to withdraw from exhibiting in-person at this year s MWC, the company said in a statement. We look forward to participating virtually and continuing to work with GSMA and industry partners to advance new mobile experiences.

International outlets including New Zealand’s TVNZ and Denmark’s DR have picked up the sixth season of hit UK crime drama Line of Duty, the finale of which broke UK viewing records earlier this month.
Chinese streaming app Pumpkin Film has also picked up Line of Duty S6, as have KT Corp in South Korea, Movistar in Spain, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden, Finland’s YLE, VRT in Belgium, NPO in the Netherlands and LTV in Latvia.
The latest season of the show, which airs on BBC1 in the UK, will also become available on BBC Studios- and ITV Studios-owned streaming platform BritBox in North America next week.
