Leaders across political parties have criticised the government over the arrest of 21-year-old climate activist Disha Ravi in the toolkit case. While the Opposition accused the Centre of "murdering democracy", the BJP defended the police action and said that age has nothing to do with the crime.
The arrest of Disha Ravi, a 21 year old climate activist for allegedly editing the toolkit shared by Greta Thunberg over the ongoing farmers agitation has triggered sharp reactions across the country.
The action taken by the Delhi Police on an FIR related to a toolkit shared by climate campaigner Greta Thunberg in support of the ongoing farmer protests has triggered a war of words between the opposition and the ruling BJP.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra cited the Delhi Police press conference to allege that Ravi's arrest has totally exposed the "nefarious conspiracies of the break India forces" to demean the integrity of India. "Regarding Disha Ravi, Delhi Police's press briefing spoke volumes about the conspiracy behind toolkit. Those trying to politicise it should answer if a country's sovereignty and integrity isn't important? Tukde-tukde gang trying to divide the country through the toolkit and has to face the law," said Patra.
