The Jersey Devil Coaster, scheduled to open in 2020, was billed as the world s tallest, fastest and longest single-rail coaster.
But the first eager rider is still waiting to climb aboard. Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, was forced to shut down construction this past summer because of the pandemic.
The new coaster is expected to open sometime this year, joining a lineup of 13 roller coasters and 52 other attractions at the park in Ocean County, about 100 miles from New York City.

Offering exclusive ride time on up to 12 roller coasters, Coaster Power Hours will include music, specialty food, free parking and surprises for guests throughout the night.
Six Flags is known for its roller coaster collection, said Kristin Fitzgerald, marketing and public relations manager.
For years, people have traveled the world just to come to New Jersey and ride the coasters at Great Adventure, she added. Guests have always asked for exclusive ride times on the coasters but that s never been possible during normal operations.
But with the pandemic, exclusive dates have been added to the Six Flags calendar for Coaster Power Hours so coaster enthusiasts can get their fill of the coasters. Fitzgerald said fans can ride the coasters as much as they want. It s a great opportunity to ride yourself silly, said Fitzgerald.

Calling all Roller Coaster lovers!
Six Flags Great Adventure is hosting a new event called Coaster Power Hours where riders get a chance to enjoy up to 12 roller coasters during exclusive park hours.
On select Thursday and Friday evenings in April and May, the park will be open for the limited time special event that celebrates their world-class coasters. The even also features music, specialty food and drinks along with surprises for guests throughout the night.
