GUWAHATI: The APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) has moved the CEC (Chief Election Commissioner), ECI (Election Commission of India), over serious discrepancies in respect of safety of strong rooms, EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines), Control Units etc., in different LACs (Legislative Assembly Constituencies) in the recently-concluded Assam Legislative Assembly Election-2021 .
In a letter to the CEC, APCC president Ripun Borah said, I wish to bring to your notice the following very serious discrepancies we have noticed very recently in respect to safety of strong rooms, and EVMs in Dhakuakhana LAC; Moran, Lahowal, Dibrugarh, and Chabua LACs under Dibrugarh district; and the strong room of four LACs of Goalpara district.

Guwahati, April 29 : The opposition Congress in Assam filed a complaint with the Election Commission on Thursday, claiming serious discrepancies in respect of the safety of strong rooms, EVMs and control units under nine Assembly constituencies in three districts.
State Congress President Ripun Bora, in his letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, said that diverse serious discrepancies were found in the strong rooms where the EVMs were kept after the elections in nine Assembly constituencies - Jaleswar, Chabua, Dibrugarh, Lahowal, Moran, Dudhnoi, Goalpara East, Goalpara West and Dhakuakhana.

The polling for the third and final phase of the Assam Assembly elections 2021 began at 7 am on Tuesday. It will continue till 6 pm.
The time for casting votes has been increased by an hour to ensure COVID-19 protocols are followed in the constituencies.
The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
