A walk off single in the bottom of the ninth finished Oregon State’s sweep of BYU on Saturday afternoon. Despite a few challenges in each game, the Beavers took care of business against the Cougars, going 3-0 for the series. The win, OSU’s tenth in a row, moves the Beavers to 10-1 on the season.
Jake Pfennigs got his third start of the year, and ran into a bit of trouble early. In the top of the second BYU’s Cole Gambill reached base on a single, and then stole second. That gave the Cougars a runner in scoring position with no outs on the board. Pfennigs managed to work 2 outs in short order, but then advanced Gambill to third with a balk. Things looked tense, but Pfennigs managed to strike out batter Peyton Cole to end the inning.
