Robertson lifts Stars to 5-4 overtime win against Blackhawks

CHICAGO (AP) — Jason Robertson scored 4:30 into overtime, and the Dallas Stars rallied to beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 on Monday night in the final game of the season for each team. Miro Heiskanen had a goal and an assist for Dallas (23-19-14), which had dropped six of seven. Joe Pavelski, Jason Dickinson and Joel Kiviranta also scored, and Jake Oettinger made 19 saves. The Stars controlled play for most of the night, finishing with a 50-23 advantage in shots on goal. But they trailed 4-2 before Kiviranta and Dickinson scored 1:54 apart midway through the third. Radek Faksa received a double minor for high-sticking late in regulation, but Dallas killed off the penalty. Jamie Benn then had a shot that trickled past Blackhawks goaltender Collin Delia, and Robertson knocked it home for his 17th on the year.

Kampf finished as the leading faceoff man for the Blackhawks, taking 777 draws on the season both a team high and a career best as well as a success rate of 52.77% on the dot, just shy of his 53.0% career mark in his rookie season on more than 200 fewer draws in total.

“They were better than us tonight,” Hawks coach Jeremy Colliton said. “We got some opportunistic goals [which] allowed us to have the lead, but ultimately it just wasn’t enough. . . . But we played 10 rookies again, and it was a learning experience, just like [Sunday] was.” Winger Alex DeBrincat scored in the first period to become the first NHL player since 1985 with a goal in each of his team’s last seven games. Collin Delia made 45 saves in goal. And forward Dylan Strome, reinserted after two more healthy scratches, had a goal and an assist in what may have been his final Hawks game. Like the Hawks, he now enters a crucial offseason.

The Blackhawks had the benefit of a 4-on-3 advantage for the majority of overtime, as the Stars Radek Faksa was whistled for a high sticking double minor at 19:39 of the third period, but were unable to capitalize.
