Nationals at odds with Liberals over unrealistic coal plan

Nationals at odds with Liberals over ‘unrealistic’ coal plan We’re sorry, this service is currently unavailable. Please try again later. Dismiss Save Normal text size Advertisement The WA Nationals are at odds with traditional bedfellows the Liberal Party over the latter’s plan to shut down state-owned coal plants by 2025. The proposal formed part of the Liberals’ plan to bring state government emissions down to zero by 2030, which also included underwriting a $16 billion renewable energy project in the Mid West. The Nationals have described the Liberals’ policy as ‘unrealistic’. Australian developed waste-to-fuel technologies to be built in WA coal centre

29 January 2021 An Australian developed waste-to-fuel conversion process will be deployed in a new demonstration project in Western Australia, that will produce useful liquid fuels from organic waste otherwise destined for landfill. Renergi will establish the waste-to-energy demonstration project in the Collie Shire in Western Australia, the state’s coal centre, and it will have the capacity to process around 1.5 tonnes of organic waste each hour. Overall, the plant will have the capacity to convert 4,000 tonnes per year of waste that would be otherwise destined to landfill, and up to 8,000 tonnes a year of forestry and agricultural wastes, diverting the waste from landfill.
