The WA Nationals are at odds with traditional bedfellows the Liberal Party over the latterâs plan to shut down state-owned coal plants by 2025.
The proposal formed part of the Liberalsâ plan to bring state government emissions down to zero by 2030, which also included underwriting a $16 billion renewable energy project in the Mid West.
The Nationals have described the Liberalsâ policy as âunrealisticâ.

Collie is WAâs traditional home of coal and the policy will make it nearly impossible for the Liberals to take the marginal seat of Collie-Preston where thousands of voters are still connected to the industry in some way.
