CHATHAM, Va. â After being forced to cancel its longstanding annual event last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pittsylvania-Caswell Junior Livestock Show is underway today and tomorrow at the Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex on Highway 29 in Chatham.
This year marks the 72nd annual Pittsylvania-Caswell Junior Livestock Show and Sale. The 71st annual event was held in April 2019. This year, unfortunately, spectators were not allowed. It s such a community tradition to have the show, said Mandi Dolan, event coordinator. What s been the hardest part for us is making this a no spectator event. To have to tell people they can t come and see these youth in actionâthat was hard.
DANVILLE, Va. â Since 1961, Collie Equipment has been offering farm and lawn and garden equipment with a smile to Danville and the surrounding areas.
Jim Shields, who has had 100 percent ownership of the business since 1998, is now passing that torch along to someone else, as he is retiring after 47 years of service to the business.
However, leaving the business is not something Shields took lightly and carefully chose his next steps, which involved new ownership for Collie.
âHe was concerned about the employees and the businessâ ability to provide the same service,â Elizabeth Hylton, Shieldsâ daughter and business manager of Collie Equipment, said.
