Fire officials say you should press the “test” button to see if your smoke alarm is working. If it is more than ten years old, fire officials say you should consider replacing the detector because the sensor in the alarm becomes less sensitive over time. They recommended buying a smoke alarm with a 10-year lithium battery to avoid an annual battery replacement.

Neighbors on Skyridge Drive Thursday said they heard a loud explosion around 1:15 p.m. come from the 9900 block of Skyridge Drive, according to the Colerain Fire Department. After the loud boom, several smaller explosions went off before neighbors said they saw smoke and called 911, the department says.
