A priest on Wednesday was taken into custody on charges of sexually harassing a nine-year-old girl inside temple premises, police said.
The accused identified as Raghav Giri (42), lured the girl inside the temple in Kotwali police station area and indulged in an indecent act with her, Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar said.
The girl somehow freed herself and told her family members about the incident after reaching home. When the agitated villagers reached the temple to confront the priest, he locked himself inside a room.

Badaun Rape: Priest, Other Accused Remanded to Police Custody
The family members of a 50-year-old anganwadi worker had accused the temple priest and his accomplices of raping and killing the woman.

Badaun, UP: A temple priest and his accomplices accused of raping and killing a 50-year-old woman here have been remanded to one-day police custody by a local court.
Circle officer of Bilsi, Anirudh Singh, said on Wednesday that, “The three accused persons in the Ughaiti incident have already been sent to jail. But there are some questions which need to be answered. For this, it is necessary to take the three accused on remand”.

It may be recalled that the victim, a 50-year-old woman, had gone to the temple on Sunday evening.
Badaun: The Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested Satyanand - the main accused in the Budaun gang-rape and murder case, almost four days after a 50-year-old woman was allegedly raped and abandoned outside her home at a village in Badaun district. The arrest was made on Thursday night.
Confirming the news, Budaun District Magistrate, Kumar Prashant said that Satyanand, the
local temple priest and the main accused, was hiding in the house of one of his followers in a village from where he was picked up and arrested.
