COIMBATORE: DMK candidate in Thondamuthur assembly constituency Karthikeya Sivasenapathy on Tuesday alleged that he was assaulted by AIADMK men outside a polling in Selvapuram. Tension gripped outside the polling station after the members of the two parties clashed with each other. Sivasenapathy visited a polling station at the government primary school in Selvapuram in the morning to check polling. While he was returning, Sivasenapathy was surrounded by AIADMK and BJP cadres. They raised slogans against him. DMK cadre rescued Sivasenapathy from the crowd. A clash erupted between the members of the AIADMK and the DMK. The police intervened and pacified them.

The burglary happened in the house of A Shabiullah, 54. Shabiullah, who runs a screen printing unit, is the secretary of the Tamil Nadu State Amateur Kabaddi Association. Shabiullah, his wife and son went to Ooty on April 2. On Monday morning, his younger brother A Hithayatullah found the main door lock broken open. He alerted the Tirupur city police and his elder brother. Tirupur city police commissioner G Karthikeyan said three special teams had been formed to nab the burglars. One of the teams was collecting CCTV footages from nearby buildings.
