As I turned towards the entry ramp to the Begin Highway on Monday, I noticed that the road that continues towards Shaare Zedek Hospital had been cordoned off. This was very inconvenient, as I was on my way to pick up my sister for our first day of volunteering for Ezer Mizion, at Shaare Zedek.

On May 8th, 2001, Koby Mandell and Yosef Ish-Ran cut class to explore the canyon near their homes in Tekoa, Israel.
Their bodies were found in a cave nearby, murdered by palestinian Arab terrorists who still have not been apprehended.
With the 20th anniversary of their murders approaching, and today being Yom Hazikaron for Israel’s fallen, Koby’s mother Sherri co-produced this tribute video to the boys.
May their memories forever be for a blessing, and may their blood be avenged.

Looking at the array of outstanding individuals who were asked to speak on the topic of optimism tonight, I’m a little intimidated – I’m not an expert in Kabballah, I’m not a Life Coach.

Twenty years ago, Israel was reeling. It was the first Yom Haâatzmaut since Yasser Arafat led Palestinian rejectionists away from negotiations and back to terrorism. I watched the mounting violence in horror from my academic perch at McGill University. The violence was agonizingly personal. One day, a 34-year-old reservist, Amir Zohar, was shot in the usually quiet Jordan Valley â it didnât help hi
Your charm, your smile, your Chen
I remember every day
You’re my past, my future, my every day.
And a motherâs hope to see her boy grow old
(You should be 33, are you 13 or 33?)
In that cold dark cave, I still feel your grace
(I feel your soul fly by like the birds up in the sky)
And when the darkness creeps
and I want to scream and shout
(ripped away shredded broken, how is this happening?)
You’re the light that guides me out.
And so I walk along
But never alone
Of my life
