Palakoderu–An early morning scuffle between an enraged octogenarian man and his 65-year-old wife resulted in the former dying and the latter getting hospitalised, in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district on Tuesday.
The early morning horror story unfolded at Palakoderu village in West Godavari district. The police have identified the deceased person as Kanumuri Vijaya Rama Raju (80), who died following the scuffle with his wife who has been identified as Kanumuri Sarala Devi (62).
“Both of them had disputes and fought with each other in a closed room. I think the husband first hit the wife with a grinding stone and later she hit him back,” West Godavari Superintendent of Police, Rahul Dev Sharma, told IANS.

10 civic bodies to go to polls on March 10 East Godavari Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayeem Asmi on Tuesday said that a total of 1,100 police personnel including DSP cadre officers would be deployed for conducting election in the 10 civic bodies on Wednesday. The polling will be conducted for the 233 wards in the 10 civic bodies in the 197 locations, in which 52 locations have been declared hypersensitive . The police will use the technology including drone cameras and body-worn cameras to keep an eye on the polling in East Godavari district , said Mr. Nayeem Asmi. The striking force and mobiles teams will also monitor the polling exercise.

DGP praises police force for extending good services at polling stations
In a joint operation, the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), Excise and Law and Order police conducted raids across the State and seized over 30,000 liquor bottles, worth ₹14.5 lakh, being transported to villages in a bid to woo voters during the second phase of polling.
Police teams arrested nine persons in different cases and seized a tipper, one tractor, a car and three two-wheelers, used for smuggling, said SEB Commissioner Vijeet Brijlal.
