FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - The subject of a Silver Alert whose remains were recovered on Sunday had been killed and dismembered at a Fort Wayne storage unit, according to a probable cause affidavit that includes accounts from two men now facing charges.
The Allen County coroner ruled 55-year-old Shane Nguyen died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Sunday morning, Fort Wayne Police spotted Nguyen s black van and tried to pull it over. The van took off, and later crashed near the BP gas station at the intersection of Lake and Anthony Boulevard.

The men have been linked to the death of 55-year-old Shane Nguyen, who went missing on Friday, April 23.

A fundraiser created for Shane Nguyen, a 55-year-old Indiana man who was found brutally murdered on Sunday, has raised more than $90,000 in less than 24 hours.
Nguyen s body was found dismembered in the back of his own van in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on April 25, two days after he was reported missing by family and friends. According to a police affidavit, Nguyen died of blunt force to the head. His body was then dismembered and placed in plastic trash bags, as suspects involved in his murder attempted to hide the evidence and flee in his vehicle, the Associated Press reported.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WISH) A man sought in a statewide Silver Alert was found dead early Sunday morning inside a vehicle that crashed in Fort Wayne.
Shane Van Nguyen, 55, had last been seen about 3 p.m. Friday exiting the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, according to the missing person alert from Fort Wayne Police Department. The vehicle in which Nguyen was found had been involved in a police pursuit about 5 a.m. Sunday that ended in a crash at Lake Avenue and Forest Park Boulevard. That’s northeast of downtown Fort Wayne next to Lakeside Park.
A coroner’s report said Nguyen died of blunt-force injuries to his head.
