Maneuver Support Center of Excellence names top civilians, instructors of the year

FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (June 3, 2021) Maneuver Support Center of Excellence leaders recognized the center’s calendar year 2020 instructors of the year and 2021 civilians of the year during a ceremony June 2 at Lincoln Hall Auditorium.
Maj. Gen. James Bonner, MSCoE and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general, and MSCoE and Fort Leonard Wood Command Sgt. Maj. Randolph Delapena presented awards to 11 instructors and 12 civilians.

Specker Gym’s new Functional Fitness Room is open, giving patrons a variety of new equipment to improve both cardio and strength while giving Soldiers specific tools to prepare for the Army Combat Fitness Test.

Fort Leonard Wood welcomed back large-scale gatherings of family and friends at graduation ceremonies and family days last week after more than a year of virtual-only events due to COVID-19 mitigation efforts.
While graduations for functional courses, basic officer leadership courses, captains career courses and courses with the NCO Academy opened to in-person visitors May 1, larger One Station Unit Training and Advanced Individual Training family days and graduations opened back up to in-person visitors May 19 when Company B, 795th Military Police Battalion, held a family day, followed by a ceremony May 20 for their OSUT graduates on Gammon Field.
Memorial Day: From loss comes strength to lead Soldiers

In January 2006, two young Soldiers were killed eight days and less than 50 miles apart while deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Fourteen years later, their stories came together by way of two 58th Transportation Battalion first sergeants.
A lunchtime phone call last year between Company C 1st Sgt. Kevin Dudkiewicz and Company A 1st Sgt. Alec Glanville, uncovered a shared story of loss neither expected.
When Dudkiewicz told Glanville, then a senior drill sergeant under Dudkiewicz, that his brother had been killed during OIF in 2006, Glanville revealed his brother was also killed in Iraq the same year.
