The City of Fort Saskatchewan and Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department welcomed a new fire chief, Todd Martens, on Feb. 17.
Former fire chief Shawn McKerry left the position in early November.

Todd Martens was the Director of Protective Services and Fire Chief in Hinton, a position he has held for the last six years. Martens has 22 years of experience in emergency services as a firefighter and EMT in Alberta and B.C.
During his career, he “continued to rise through the ranks in emergency services with progressive leadership roles including a deputy fire chief with the Regional District of East Kootenay and seven years in Fort McMurray as a Firefighter and EMT.”
