This weekend on the town, a new store on The Square has its grand opening, the typical San Marcos markets operate in full swing, live music floats through town and much more.
July 16
A free screening of Motherload will take place at the San Marcos Plaza Park. Free scooter, pedicab rides and more will be offered at 7 p.m before the screening starts at 8:45 p.m.
Singer-songwriter Kody West will perform at Cheatham Street Warehouse, located at 119 Cheatham St. Tickets are $20-22. The show will start at 8 p.m. with Dustin Massey opening.
July 17
The Mermaid Bazaar is back this weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Wonder World Adventure Park & Cave. The market is bi-weekly and filled with a variety of vendors.
There are two days of events planned for July 3-4 at two locations.
Live music, a car show, parade, vendors and more will be July 3 downtown. First responders will be served a free meal at the Abilene Convention Center. Part of Cypress Street will be closed, and attendees can bring chairs and coolers. Admission is free.
The festival will continue July 4 at the Taylor County Expo Center with live music, food trucks, kids activities and more. Outdoor concert will feature Neal McCoy, Chris Colston and Jerrod Medulla.
General admission tickets at Expo Center are $25 (plus $2.84 fee) for 16 and older, $5 (plus $1.36 fee) for 10-15 and free for 9 and younger. First responders, active military, veterans, frontline workers (such as medical personnel) and immediate family members get in free with proper identification.
