CASPER, Wyo. The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission have approved a change order for the construction of the new Cody Regional Office “primarily due to increasing building material costs,” Game and Fish said on May 26.
The Game and Fish Commission approved a $329,675.76 increase to the cost of the project for power services and materials price increases.
“Every week we wait to finalize costs, we see an increase in the materials prices,” said Game and Fish Deputy Director of Internal Operations John Kennedy. “Approving costs now is the best use of sportsperson funds.”

Wyoming Game and Fish’s new Cody office – designed with community engagement in mind – is ready to break ground and start construction.
The ground will be broken for the new Cody regional office later this week. For the Wyoming Game and Fish, this is the culmination of a decade of planning for a “community facility.”
“The public should expect to see activity and heavy equipment at the site for the duration of construction. The initial phases of construction will include utility installation, site excavation, and concrete work,” said Dan Smith, Cody regional wildlife supervisor. “It is anticipated that the building will be dried in by fall so interior work can occur during the winter months.”

CASPER, Wyo. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is beginning construction of their new building for the Cody Regional Office this week, the department announced on Tuesday.
The construction project is expected to last about one year and should be complete by June or July of 2022. Game and Fish said that they have been planning the project over the last decade “to bring a community facility to the Cody area that will best serve the public.”
The building will be located less than a mile north of Cody along Highway 120 on the southwest side of the highway.

Wyoming black bear bait site renewal
Cheyenne – The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will open black bear bait site renewals beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, March 1. The renewal process may be completed online, in person or by phone, mail or fax, with the subsequent application for registering new bait sites taking place online.
The shift to an online application process is an improvement recently authorized by the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission at their January meeting based on the department’s recommendation and public feedback .
“Last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Game and Fish Commision, through an emergency rule, moved the black bear bait site registration system from in-person to online. We received an overwhelmingly positive response to that shift, so the Commission made that a permanent system to better serve hunters,” said Jason Hunter, Game and Fish Lander Region wildlife supervisor.
