Unknown gunmen, yesterday, abducted Oscar Ofuka, Special Adviser on Cocoa Development, to Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, in Calabar, the state capital. x
He was taken away by his abductors about 11:55 a.m. at the Cocoa Farm of the Cross River Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC).
Ofuka was to have commenced distribution of cocoa seedling to farmers in the Cross River South Senatorial District, alongside the Deputy Governor, Prof. Ivara Esu before he was kidnapped, prompting the suspension of the programme.
The unknown gunmen threatened to shoot a senior correspondent at the corporation, Sunny Inah, who tried to resist them, while the General Manager, Maurice Inok, Esther Ofem and some journalists, who were present, expressed shock at the incident.

The Special Adviser to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State on Cocoa Development and Control, Ntufam Oscar Ofuka, has accused a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mbu Joseph Mbu, of attempting to assassinate him.
Addressing a press conference in Calabar, the state capital, Ofuka said: “I am compelled to address you today over the plot to assassinate me by a one-time Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Mbu Joseph Mbu (rtd).
“AIG Mbu is so irked over my appointment as Special Adviser on Cocoa Development and Control and wants to take over my job through fraudulent acts, and affront.
