The Drummoyne MP will appear as a witness during the three-day inquiry at the Independent Commission Against Corruption, taking the stand next Thursday and Friday, if required.
He disputed that he had âtrash-talkedâ a councillor to preselectors, saying: âI think by the evidence given here, Iâve been trash-talked.â
Mr Sidoti has previously been a parliamentary secretary for planning and roads and transport. He was appointed as minister for sport, multiculturalism, seniors and veterans in April 2019, but was forced to stand down pending the commissionâs investigation.
The commission has already heard Mr Sidoti believed he had âevery right like any citizenâ to contact local councillors about how they exercised their public functions, but on Tuesday said he never attempted or intended to improperly influence those councillors.

Drummoyne MP John Sidoti has denied threatening a local councillor in a bid to pressure her to support planning decisions to benefit his familyâs property interests in Five Dock, telling a corruption inquiry he was a âgentleâ and âconsiderateâ person.
In a text message shown at the Independent Commission Against Corruption, a former Liberal councillor on the City of Canada Bay Council, Mirjana Cestar, told fellow councillor Michael Megna on December 3, 2016: âBumped into John Sidoti on Bay Run just now. He is exploding, making threats . Can I call you later after 9.00?â
