John Sidoti ICAC inquiry to be reopened

John Sidoti maintains innocence as ICAC inquiry ends

He disputed that he had “trash-talked” a councillor to preselectors, saying: “I think by the evidence given here, I’ve been trash-talked.” Mr Sidoti has previously been a parliamentary secretary for planning and roads and transport. He was appointed as minister for sport, multiculturalism, seniors and veterans in April 2019, but was forced to stand down pending the commission’s investigation. The commission has already heard Mr Sidoti believed he had “every right like any citizen” to contact local councillors about how they exercised their public functions, but on Tuesday said he never attempted or intended to improperly influence those councillors.
