Eugene, Ore. The University of Oregon Board of Trustees unanimously approved a contract extension for head football coach Mario Cristobal on Thursday morning. This comes after negotiations that had begun long before the Coronavirus pandemic, but had resurfaced towards the end of the 2020 season.
On a call with Trustees, Oregon Athletic Director Rob Mullens told the Board that Cristobal s contract is fully funded by the athletic department and by gifts to the school s athletic department. Any future contracts will be funded by future gifts by Oregon donors as well. Any prices increases will not be paid by the University itself.

As expected and anticipated by Cristobal earlier this week, the University of Oregon’s Executive and Audit committee of the school’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved a new six-year, $27.3 million contract Thursday morning for Cristobal. He can earn an additional year for $5 million more if the Ducks win nine regular-season games in any of the next three seasons, 10 games in 2024, or if the Ducks win the Pac-12 North division in any of those four seasons.
