The Art Institute of Chicago has announced that the museum has appointed architectural historian and curator Irene Sunwoo to be the John H. Bryan Chair and Curator, Architecture and Design. Sunwoo joins the Art Institute from the Columbia Universityâs Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation , where she has been Curator of the Arthur Ross Architecture Gallery and Director of Exhibitions since 2016.Â

Yale and Columbia Create Interactive Vaccine Allocation Map
A team from Yale and Columbia have created an interactive map of each county in each state proposing how COVID-19 vaccinations could be distributed.
A new interactive map can provide an important tool for policymakers and the public to analyze differences between COVID-19 vaccine distribution strategies. The publicly available map, which displays each county of each state, highlights issues surrounding equity and vulnerability of at-risk groups.

The event series brings together the 2019-20 class of fellows from American architecture schools to explore a cross-section of emerging interests in the discipline. Kubey will present on “Publics” at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, and Pardee will speak on “Infrastructures and Ecologies” at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26. Mariana Ibañez has been named an associate professor and the chair of the department of architecture and urban design in the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture. Ibañez is taking over from Professor Heather Roberge, who has served in that position since July 2017.
Ibañez is an Argentine architect involved in practice, academia and research. Prior to joining the faculty at UCLA, Ibañez taught at the Harvard Graduate School of Design for more than a decade and most recently at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She has been an adjunct associate professor at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at the University of Toronto and the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.
