(CNN) A large colorful fish washed ashore on the Oregon coast last week in what aquarium officials called a rare occurrence.
The 100-pound (45 kilogram) opah fish, also known as a moonfish, was discovered on Sunset Beach in Seaside, a city in the northwest side of the state. The fish is rare to the Oregon Coast, Seaside Aquarium said in a Facebook post along with several images of the three and a half foot long fish.
Keith Chandler, the general manager of Seaside Aquarium, told CNN that an opah on the Oregon coast is uncommon to find and he also added that the fish was in such great shape.

Many interesting sea life has washed up on shores across the United States, and a recent discovery stunned beachgoers in the Pacific Northwest.
Last Wednesday (July 14), the Seaside Aquarium in Oregon said a large fish was found on Sunset Beach. It wasn t just on oversized salmon or tuna either it was a 100-pound Opah fish. After seeing photographs of the unusual fish they quickly responded and recovered the fish, staff wrote in a Facebook post. It created quite the stir at the Aquarium where folks were encouraged to come take a look at this beautiful and odd-looking fish.

The 100-pound opah fish, also known as a moonfish, was discovered on Sunset Beach in Seaside, a city located in the northwest side of the state. The fish is “rare to the Oregon Coast,” Seaside Aquarium said in a Facebook post along with several images of the three and a half foot long fish.
Keith Chandler, the general manager of Seaside Aquarium, told CNN that an opah on the Oregon coast is “uncommon to find” and he also added that the fish was “in such great shape.”
