GUWAHATI: The phrase justice delayed is justice denied fits well in the context of the Guwahati Police as a whopping 37,906 cases were pending for investigation in different police stations of the city till May 2021.
According to reports, out of the total cases, as many as 3,595 cases are pending for over 10 years.
While a total of 17,506 cases are pending under the East Police District, 12,369 cases are pending under the Central Police District followed by 8,031 cases under the West Police District.

GUWAHATI: The Gorchuk Police on Wednesday arrested two persons from the Katabari area with three grams of suspected heroin.
The accused have been identified as Safiq Ahmed (23) from Chaygaon and Bapon Bonik (35) from Birubari. A case (364/21) under section 22 (a) of the NDPS Act has been registered by the Gorchuk Police. The duo is currently under judicial custody.

GUWAHATI: The Gorchuk Police has arrested two mobile thieves in connection to a theft case (83/2021) registered at the police station. The accused have been identified as Rafiqul Alom (33) and Kamaluddin Ahmed (30). Both are residents of Malda district in West Bengal. The police stated that the duo came to Assam to commit theft and were
arrested recently from Madanpur in Baihata Chariali.
A total of 27 mobile phones and a car have been seized from their possession. According to the police, the accused have stated that they bought the phones from another person.
