Maharashtra, Delhi, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat saw the most fatalities
India registered 1,99,376 new COVID-19 cases on April 14. As many as 1,037 deaths were also recorded on the day as of data updated at 12.24 a.m. IST on April 15.
The figures do not include cases and deaths from Ladakh. The data is sourced from covid19india.org, an independent aggregator of daily COVID-19 figures.

Administration on a war footing to make oxygen available at medical facilities, says Maharashtra Chief Minister
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday said mutations of the novel coronavirus had been found in a number of samples and the administration was on a war footing to make oxygen available at medical facilities across the State.
“Several samples have revealed mutations of the virus. The rate of infection is much higher than last year, with many among the younger generation now getting infected. Reining in the contagion will be even more challenging this year and all restrictions announced by the government must be strictly enforced

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s exhortation to Indians to commemorate ‘Tika Utsav’ by encouraging COVID-19 vaccination has elicited a middling response with only 11.4 million vaccines administered from April 11 to 14, data from the CoWin website show.
Concomitant with a slew of festivals that mark these days, the aim was to accelerate vaccinations.

Sputnik V will join Covishield and Covaxin that were approved and used since India launched what arguably is one of the largest inoculation programmes globally in January The emergency use authorisation from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for Sputnik V paves the way for import and use of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine in the inoculation programme in the country.
Though on the cards, the timing of EUA assumes significance in the context of reports that stocks of the two approved vaccines are fast running out in many locations across India, amid more people turning eligible and evincing interest in getting the jab. Several State governments had in recent days also appealed to the Centre to replenish the vaccine supplies.
