Twin volleyball stars Lee Jae-yeong and Da-yeong were dropped by the Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders over allegations of past school bullying that surfaced recently.
The twin sisters were accused of violence last week by a woman claiming to be a former middle-school teammate. The accuser listed some 21 allegations including habitual physical assault, threatening with a knife and stealing money, saying I tried to forget it because it happened 10 years ago, but the twins seem to be ignoring their past.
The twins quickly admitted irresponsible behavior in the past and apologized to the victim, but were unable to stop the avalanche of public anger and disappointment.

The twin volleyball stars on South Korea’s national women’s team were dismissed from the squad on Monday (Feb 15) after they both owned up to their bullying pasts, despite the fact that both had played key roles in helping the team win a berth at the Tokyo Olympics .
Lee Jae-yeong, 25, and her twin sister Lee Da-yeong, who both play for the Heungkuk Life Insurance Pink Spiders in South Korea’s domestic V-League, admitted to bullying their teammates 10 years earlier in middle school and apologised to the unidentified victims. The Pink Spiders also suspended the twins.

An increasing number of celebrities including athletes and singers have been embroiled in controversy recently over their checkered past as bullies in school, following revelations from their old teammates or schoolmates.
The revelations have increased particularly in recent years as online communities and social media have been developed into a key communication method among young people.
