KR launches latest ‘SeaTrust-HullScan’ The Korean Register (KR) has released the latest version of its structural analysis software SeaTrust-HullScan, updated to include the new Common Structural Rules (CSR), making KR the first classification society to do so. The new CSR are the result of collaboration between many IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) technical experts and have been enforced for bulk carriers of 90m or more and crude oil carriers of 150m or more, built on or after July 1, 2015. IACS recently announced the revision of the CSR reflecting many changes to the previous rules, including to the method of buckling analysis.

HHI Group, KR partner up on developing eco-friendly ships April 13, 2021, by Jasmina Ovcina South Korean majors Hyundai Heavy Industry (HHI) Group and Korean Register (KR) have signed an MOU laying the groundwork for a strategic partnership to address key environmental challenges facing the industry. Under the MOU, signed on April 12, the two sides plan to exchange technical information and human resources to drive progress on the decarbonization of the shipping industry and the forthcoming IMO regulations. In the short term, shipowners need to implement measures to meet the EEXI and CII regulations which come into force for existing ships in 2023.

KR and HHI Group sign strategic partnership MOU for GHG issues Korean Register (KR) and Hyundai Heavy Industry (HHI) Group have signed an MOU to work together in strategic partnership to address key environmental challenges facing the industry, specifically decarbonization, and forthcoming IMO regulations. The HHI Group encompasses a range of companies including Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Samho Shipbuilding, Hyundai Mipo Shipbuilding, and Hyundai Global Services. The MOU was signed on 12 April and will see the exchange of technical information and human resources to drive progress on environmental matters.
