Hyundai N performance arm to transition to electric vehicles – report

Speaking to media at the launch of the Hyundai i30 Sedan N in South Korea earlier this week, Hyundai N chief Albert Biermann confirmed the performance arm was working on a battery-powered N car, according to Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicle platform E-GMP has tremendous potential, Biermann said at the event. The first electrified N model will be based on E-GMP. The E-GMP platform is the company s electric vehicle (EV) skateboard chassis, allowing different bodies to be fitted from both Hyundai and its sibling Kia. The comments come as an electric prototype was spotted testing with a wider wheel track and and a longer wheelbase – but wearing a Kia EV6 body as disguise. Both the Kia EV6 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 are based on E-GMP electric architecture.
