TALLINN - Flags of the European Union have been brought back to the White Hall of the Estonian parliament on the orders of Juri Ratas, president of the Riigikogu and leader of the Center Party, the junior half in the two-party government coalition; the flags were removed by Ratas predecessor as speaker, Henn Polluaas from the now opposition Estonian Conservative People s Party (EKRE), Postimees reports.
Ratas said in a webcast of Postimees last month that he deems the presence of the Estonian flag important in the Riigikogu hall; however, Estonia has also had a very successful period during its EU membership.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called on Estonia to abandon its territorial demands and has criticised alleged discrimination of Russian-speakers in the country, according to a press release issued by the ministry quoted by the Baltic Times.
During an April 10 phone call between Lavrov and his Estonian counterpart, Eva-Maria Liimets, the Russian foreign minister called on the Baltic country to “unambiguously abandon its territorial demands”.
The two countries have not yet ratified a border treaty. The foreign ministers of the two countries reached an agreement in February 2014, but neither the Estonian parliament, the Riigikogu, nor the Russian Duma have ratified the deal.
