Chatterjee named 2021 Whitbeck Memorial Award winner

News No Comments The impressive achievements of future doctor Stuti Chatterjee have earned her the honor of the 2021 Edward L. Whitbeck Memorial Award at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.  Frank L. and Beverly Whitbeck established the award in memory of their son, Edward Lynn Whitbeck, who was a senior at Little Rock University, the predecessor of UA Little Rock, at the time of his death in 1965. Each scholar receives a personalized plaque and a monetary award. “The Whitbeck Award is given to the outstanding graduating senior,” said Dr. Simon Hawkins, director of the Donaghey Scholars Honors Program. “Stuti is outstanding in so many ways, but more than that, she is inspirational. She represents the best of UA Little Rock. Stuti’s education has changed her. It has given her so much, and she has given so much back to the university and the larger community.”

UA Little Rock Honors Winners of 2021 Student Research and Creative Works Expo

News No Comments The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has selected the winners of the 2021 Student Research and Creative Works Expo. The annual event features the latest innovative research, service or professional work, and creative projects by the student researchers at UA Little Rock.  The expo also featured presentations by the 2021 winners of the Signature Experience Awards, which provides students with grants to fund a signature experience, including a research project, creative activity, or community project, to enrich the students’ academic experience at UA Little Rock.  “In its fourth year, the UA Little Rock Signature Experience has matured into a foundational pillar of undergraduate and graduate student research and creative work with the generous support of the Donaghey Foundation,” said Dr. Jeremy Ecke, director of undergraduate research at UA Little Rock. 

UA Little Rock Student Research and Creative Works Expo Begins April 16

News No Comments The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s 2021 Student Research and Creative Works Expo will debut to the public Friday, April 16, featuring the latest research and innovations of student researchers at UA Little Rock.   The event will be hosted virtually through Whova, a free event app. The expo will be open to the public through July 12, allowing members of the Little Rock and campus community to attend the presentation of students’ projects. Judging will take place from April 16-19.  Both graduate and undergraduate students are eligible to present their ongoing research projects, service or professional work, and creative projects. Student researchers are exploring everything from using combination therapy to combat multidrug-resistant bacteria to the creation of micro droids inspired by the “Star Wars” universe to an assessment of the university’s graduate student orientation program.

UA Little Rock s 2021 Student Research and Creative Works Expo Registration Opens

News No Comments UA Little Rock’s Student Research and Creative Works Committee has announced the opening of registration for the 2021 Student Research and Creative Works Expo scheduled to take place April 15. The event will be hosted virtually through Whova, a free event app. Both graduate and undergraduate students are eligible to present their ongoing research projects, service or professional work, and creative projects.  The Whova App was used to host this event for the first time last year. Workshops will also be held throughout March in order to prepare the presenters for the virtual environment. The Expo will be open to the public, allowing members of the Little Rock or campus community to attend the presentation of students’ projects.
