LifeFlight Fiji, a registered charitable trust in Fiji and its partners have been assisting the National Disaster Management Office in delivering relief supplies to the maritime areas in the Northern Division.
LifeFlight Fiji Founder, Anthony Blake says one of their partners, YACHTAID GLOBAL provided 2 vessels and a sea-plane that they offered to NDMO to deliver relief items.
Blake says following TC Yasa, they made a call for assistance to its partners to support the government in delivering relief supplies to communities. Blake adds the immediate assistance the government needed was an aerial survey of Vanua Levu and the Lau Group which they were able to conduct within the first 24 hours after Cyclone Yasa.

Yasa, a Category 5 cyclone, crashed into Fiji on December 17, cutting a destructive path through Vanua Levu, the nation’s second-largest island.
The storm killed at least four people, including an infant, and displaced tens of thousands. Two nonprofit groups with staff members on the ground described entire communities near-decimated, more than 20,000 in evacuation centers, and ruined crops that were bound to exacerbate already-existing food insecurities.
Medical supplies, food, and shelter were all needed in affected communities, the groups said.
Direct Relief is preparing multiple deliveries in response to specific requests from the Fijian Ministry of Health and local hospitals. Aid includes a Hurricane Prep Pack, which contains antibiotics, syringes, basic first aid supplies, and medications to treat conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and severe allergic reactions. Residents of Wainikoro, Naibulu, Malawai and Muanidevo in Dreketi have received much needed relief supplies.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama together with some members of cabinet and government officials distributed food rations to the residents.
Bainimarama also paid a surprise visit to Year 12 students of Nadogo Central College before they sat for their Vernacular paper.

Eventhough the exam was optional, Nadogo Central College recorded a 100% turnout for the Year 12 and 13 students.
