400 Gaibandha transport workers get food assistance

GAIBANDHA, April 30, 2021 (BSS) – District administration has provided food assistance to 400 transport workers seriously affected by Covid-19 here.
The packages of food were distributed to the jobless transport workers as Prime Minister’s assistance at a function at Shah Abdul Hamid Stadium of the district town on Thursday afternoon maintaining social distancing and other health guide lines.
A discussion was also held with deputy commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin in the chair.
Jatiya Sangsad Whip and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini attended it as the chief guest.
Superintendent of Police Muhammad Towhidul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) AKM Sadiqur Rahman, General Secretary of District Awami League Abu Bakar Siddique, Mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Md. Matlubour Rahman and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi officer (UNO) Md. Rafiul Alam were present.

GAIBANDHA, JAN 16, 2021 (BSS) – The Second round polls of Gaibandha and Sundargaganj Municipalities of the district today ended peacefully amidst much enthusiasm.
The voting started at 8 am and ended at 4 pm without any intermission . Counting of voters started shortly after the voting ended in the municipalities.
The government declared a public holiday in the municipalities on the Election Day to help the voters cast their votes.
Election office sources said the number of voters is 51,387 in Gaibandha Municipality and 14,071 in Sundarganj Municipality of the district.
The turn out of the voters in the election was satisfactory as over 50 percent voters cast their votes in 48 voting centers, Election Commission (EC) officials said.
