Vaccinations provided at East Gainesville Church

Residents had the opportunity to get their first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“We believe that the sooner we get vaccinated, the sooner we get together for in-person gathering,” said COGBF Pastor Dr. Erta Livingston of Gainesville Church of God by Faith. “It will be very good to communicate with one another in fellowship.”
With that spirit in mind, residents had the opportunity to get their first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine Saturday at Gainesville Church of God by Faith, 735 SE 15th St. that was distributed by staff from University of Florida’s Medicine Mobile Outreach Clinic.
HOLY COMMUNION
Elder Phillip Thomas gave the consecration prayer and Elder Leo Parker provided inspiring music throughout the service.
Students took communion during the service, which was held last Wednesday, both via Zoom, Facebook and in-person at the institute s chapel.
The speaker was Elder Dr. Erta Livingston, senior pastor of Gainesville Church of God By Faith, who spoke about the importance of “true communion.” The text of his sermon came from I Corinthians 11:23-26.
Livingston said it’s important for church and individuals to walk with God. He said churches and individuals must make sure they are prepared for the time of consecration. He said communion is the way God talks and shares with us.
The Ozark County Health Department will conduct a first-dose, drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination clinic March 26 in the Gainesville Church of Christ parking lot for those who are eligible under the state’s phased system.
Currently, Missouri is in Phase 1B-Tier 2, which includes only residents age 65 or older, healthcare workers and or residents age 18-64 with chronic health problems, are currently eligible for the vaccine.
Gov. Mike Parson has announced that Monday, Missourians in Phase 1B – Tier 3 will be eligible to receive the vaccine. This tier includes K-12 educators and school employees; child care providers; grocery store employees; and workers involved in energy, food, agriculture and other critical infrastructure, among others, will be eligible for the vaccination. Residents of Missouri can get a COVID-19 vaccination Tuesday in Gainesville. The drive-thru vaccination clinic will be held at the Gainesville Church of Christ on U.S. Highway 160 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The vaccinations are for Missouri residents 65 years of age or older, those between the ages of 18-64 with chronic health problems and health care workers.
Those wanting to get the vaccine will need to preregister by going to covidvaccine.mo.gov/events and scrolling to Region G and click on the Ozark County event or call 877-435-8411. When you register, you will be given a patient ID number you will need to provide at the vaccination clinic.
