The Panola County Commissioners Court and the Hand Up Network have approved a memorandum of understanding for help during disasters.
Commissioners agreed Tuesday to join the agreement. Hand Up Network is a Tyler-based nonprofit that has recently been manning the county s emergency operations center and coordinating disaster relief from the March 27 tornadoes. It s kind of a memorandum of understanding, no money involved, just that when we have a disaster and need their help, they have a lot of resources that we didn t have, Judge LeeAnn Jones said. They called in different people they knew with things; they were a wealth of help and information, and I think it would be a good agreement to have.
