Facebook Share Three area school superintendents are stepping down at the end of the school year, as districts begin looking for replacements. Casey Barduhn, who has been Westhill school superintendent since Jan. 1, 2013, is retiring this summer. Barduhn is stepping down after 35 years in education. The Westhill school board is searching for a new leader with the help of a consultant. Also stepping down June 30 is Matt Reilly, who has served as Cazenovia Central School District’s superintendent for seven years, and has been in education for 32 years.

The Cazenovia Central School District will switch to remote learning Tuesday through the end of 2020 because so many students and staff are in quarantine, Superintendent Matt Reilly said in a letter. “Due to the large number of staff that require quarantine, coupled with the number of faculty and staff who are either quarantined for exposures outside school or have children in quarantine that they must provide care for, the district will be unable to provide adequate substitute coverage for both teachers and bus drivers,” Reilly wrote.
