Qatar’s national carrier,
Qatar Airways (QA)has announced that it will soon become the first global airline to offer passengers 100 percent zero-touch technology for its award-winning Oryx One in-flight entertainment system across the A350 fleet.
This adds to the safety measures the airline has earlier implemented against COVID-19.
Introduced in partnership with Thales AVANT IFE system, the zero-touch tech will allow A350 passengers to pair their personal electronic devices (PEDs) with their seat-back IFE screen by connecting to ‘Oryxcomms’ Wi-Fi and simply scanning a QR code displayed on the screen.
They can then use their PEDs to navigate and enjoy more than 4,000 options on offer through the airline’s award-winning Oryx One in-flight entertainment system.
As it gradually rebuilds its Africa network,
QA said it will increase frequencies to the following destinations:
Alexandria (two weekly flights resumed January 25)
Cairo (up to 16 weekly flights resumed January 18)
Cape Town (increasing to five weekly flights from February 1)
Casablanca (increased to five weekly flights from January 21)
Durban (increasing to three weekly flights from February 14)
Johannesburg (increasing to 18 weekly flights from January 26)
Maputo (increasing to three weekly flights from February 14)
Tunis (increased to five weekly flights from January 24)
#QatarAirways continues to be the leading global carrier connecting Africa, operating one of the largest and most reliable networks in the region with more than 100 weekly flights to and from 23 destinations across the continent.https://t.co/nTaP9qAXvL Qatar Airways (@qatarairways) January 25, 2021
