The annual 4th of July fireworks show at Lakes Storey in Galesburg is returning this year after cancelling last year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Big Bang Boom is back on Sunday, July 4, with the area’s largest fireworks display synchronized to music that is broadcasted over the air on 93.7FM/1400AM WGIL and 92.7 WLSR The Laser.
“Now that Illinois has moved into the Bridge Phase of reopening and that most area residents have had the opportunity to get vaccinated we are happy to be welcoming families out to Lake Storey Park and get a chance to celebrate Independence Day with us once again,” according to WGIL/Laser General Manager and event producer Roger Lundeen. “Those that are not yet comfortable coming out to the park area are encouraged to watch the display in their cars or from a distant location near the lake. As always, the soundtrack will be broadcast on the radio so it can be heard from anywhere. ”
A Blood Drive is being sponsored by the Galesburg Lions Club and Impact Life Blood Center. There is currently an urgent and critical need for O positive, O negative and B negative red blood cell donations and platelets from all blood types. Appointments are required and can be made on the Blood Center’s website or by calling James Browning at 309-335-2994.
