KALAMAZOO, MI Former Public Safety Chief Karianne Thomas’ employment contract was terminated without cause earlier this year, the city of Kalamazoo has confirmed.
The city previously announced that Thomas, a 27-year employee of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, retired from the department, effective Oct. 1.
At the time of Thomas’ departure, the city manager’s office did not answer questions about Thomas’ departure, including whether she was forced to resign. Mayor David Anderson said previously it was Thomas’ decision to leave, and described the end of her employment with the city as “mutual” during a Dec. 15 interview.
