KALAMAZOO, MI A rise in hate crimes against the Asian American and Pacific Islander community over the past two years has led local activists in Kalamazoo to come together with community leaders to stand together, speak out and listen.

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller is warning area residents of a recent uptick in car thefts.
“It’s actually nationwide, so there is a big move to help people understand that if they don’t lock it, they’re gonna lose it,” Sheriff Fuller said. “We’re finding that stolen cars are happening every day in Kalamazoo County. We’re recovering stolen cars every day.”
Fuller says there are basic tips to remember in order to help prevent this from occurring.
“We want people to remember that quick dash into the store could be the last time you see your car, so shut it off and lock it,” Sheriff Fuller said. “Do not leave your FOB’s inside the cars. We know people leave FOB’s inside their cars when they’re parked in the garages, and if the garage door is open, that’s an invitation for someone to step inside your car, push that button and drive away with
