Moving Shapes: Water Paintings: “In the landscape, water has a presence,” notes painter Barbara Hirst, whose new show at Bugera Matheson Gallery is perfectly timed for the spring melt.
“When I approach a canal or a lake, it has a particular character because of the objects and forms around it yet it is the water, and specifically light hitting the water, that seems to give the scene atmosphere.”
