MALTA Stewart’s Shops has begun expanding the options for electric vehicles at its network of gas stations.
The convenience store chain and Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the development Tuesday. It is part of the New York Power Authority’s Evolve NY initiative, which will add fast-charging stations across the state to help reach the state’s clean energy goals.
The chargers Stewart’s is installing in Schodack are powerful enough to provide a full charge in 15 to 30 minutes, and are expected to be fully operational in September. Additional units will be installed in Moreau, Latham, Keene and Clifton Park under the NYPA initiative.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. â Blueox Corporation is selling its convenience store chain to Stewartâs Shops.
âIt is with bittersweet emotions that Blueox Corporation announces the sale of their Blueox Neighborhood Market convenience store chain to Stewartâs Shops based in Saratoga Springs, NY,â a press release from the companies said.
At its peak, Blueox Corporation built a chain of 11 local convenience stores that serviced and provided support to communities for more than 35 years.

Built by acquiring one store at a time, the most recognizable brand name was the Nice-N-Easy franchise locations and Big Blue Convenience Stores, serving rural markets in the heart of upstate New York.
