CARES Reimbursement Grant Approved by Commissioners
Garrett Giles Washington County Emergency Management Director Kary Cox presented a funding agreement for a CARES Act Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Reimbursement Grant in the amount of $13,888 to the County Commissioners on Monday. Oklahoma is on a short time frame because the funds have to be used by the end of the December. Cox said this makes it very difficult for government to make purchases on such short notice. He said they had to move quickly. He said Washington County would be using $13,888 to reimburse PPE purchases they ve already made that wasn t covered by any other funding source.
Milwaukee-based Real Estate Firm Buys Former Russell Brands Property in Wetumpka
An affiliate of Phoenix Investors, a national private commercial real estate firm headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, acquired the former Russell Brands, LLC property located at 3145 Elmore Road in Wetumpka. Russell Brands previously manufactured sports equipment and clothing, marketing its products under many brands and subsidiaries, including Russell Athletic and Spalding.
Desirae Lewis, District 5 Elmore County Commissioner expressed her excitement about the acquisition. “This purchase will help bring jobs to Wetumpka and the surrounding area that have been missing since 2013. This is an economic boost and a major step towards future development on the Highway 14 corridor.”

WETUMPKA, Ala., Dec. 10, 2020 /PRNewswire/ An affiliate of Phoenix Investors ( Phoenix ), a national private commercial real estate firm headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, announced it acquired a Class A industrial facility totaling approximately 891,000 square feet on 102 acres of land from Russell Brands, LLC ( Russel Brands ) located at 3145 Elmore Road in Wetumpka, Alabama (the Property ).
Russell Brands previously manufactured sports equipment and clothing, marketing its products under many brands and subsidiaries, including Russell Athletic and Spalding. Formerly a publicly traded company, Russell Brands was acquired by Fruit of the Loom, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, in 2006. Russell Brands closed its plant in Wetumpka in 2013.
