In the beginning, appointments filled quickly. Demand looked endless. Supply, however, was harder to come by.
“In Iowa County, every drop that we get, is going in an arm,” Iowa County Emergency Management Director Keith Hurlbert said. “We seem to have more demand than we have vaccine at this point.”
“I just know counties around us have had a tougher time lately to fill all of their slots,” he said. “It’s different. Even the county next door can have the exact opposite situation to what we have.”

In Iowa County, there’s already a gap between vaccine supply and demand.
“We seem to have more demand than we have vaccine at this point,” Emergency Management Director Keith Hurlbert said. “Our allocations have been rather small. In the last few weeks, even smaller a little frustrating from that standpoint. Now with the Johnson & Johnson issue, smaller yet.”
That translates to a bigger gap and fewer vaccinations. Hurlbert said last week’s total allotment included 140 Moderna doses and 100 Johnson & Johnson doses, now waiting in storage. That meant canceling appointments and shifting those they could to the Moderna vaccine.

UPDATE (WKOW) Emery Foust has been found safe, according to an alert sent by Iowa County Emergency Management.
The teenager was found around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Dodgeville police chief David Bauer tells 27 News Foust was found at the home of someone he knows on the west side of the city. Bauer says he does not believe that person knew the teenager was there.
Iowa County Emergency Management director Keith Hurlbert says authorities were already talking about what they d do if the search were to continue on Friday. We were already making those plans and getting ready to determine what resources would be needed in the morning to continue the search, so we re very happy that we don t have to take those steps, he told 27 News.
